The first-ever Dal Bookstore Sale was held in the winter of 1966, following the Dalhousie Bookstore's grand opening in August 1965.

We can't help but notice the missing sale dates. Times were different back then, so perhaps awareness of the 1st Annual Dalhousie Bookstore SALE extended beyond this ad found in the Dalhousie Gazette, printed January 28, 1966.

Either way, the message was not lost — there was, indeed a sale taking place. The ad took up about a quarter of the newspaper page and possibly used every font 1966 had to offer.

Sixty years later, the spirit lives on. The Dalhousie Bookstore's Inventory Blowout Sale runs March 17–19, 2026 — don't miss it!
