The Dalhousie Bookstore is a cost recovery unit that supports academic success and promotes campus pride while serving students, faculty, staff, alumni and the broader community.

The Dal Bookstore has a story worth knowing. From a beloved campus vendor known as “Roy’s” to the university-owned Bookstore that opened in August 1965 — our roots run deep in the Dalhousie community. Meet the people who started it all.
Beyond providing textbooks and merchandise, we create meaningful employment opportunities for 14–25 Dal students year-round, and contribute over $200,000 annually in student wages and university support. We prioritize our student employees' education, accommodating their schedules so work complements their academic commitments.

For 20 years, Dal Ready has been helping students get prepared for Residence and campus life with essential items delivered straight to their room. Many thousands of orders delivered since 2005 has made move-in day easier for countless families.
We believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Throughout our history, we’ve contributed to various campus initiatives, student programs, and charitable causes.
We’re committed to sourcing Canadian products whenever possible, starting in Halifax and extending throughout the Maritimes and across the country. Our roster of Canadian-made products has grown steadily and continues to expand each year.
